NYSDOH DNA Testing Facility Guidelines
DNA Testing in New York is more strictly regulated than any
other state. The New York State department of health does not allow
in-home paternity tests. All tests must be performed using chain of
custody procedures.
NYSDOH accredits laboratories to perform DNA testing in NY.
NYSDOH is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of New
Yorkers. Therefore, DNA testing completed in NY must be accompanied
by a doctor's prescription, order from a judge, or an order from
U.S. Immigration. Boston Paternity has a staff physician.
Labs that are not accredited by NYSDOH are not allowed to
collect or analyze DNA samples from New York residents. All NYSDOH
accredited labs abide by all of the following guidelines:
- All DNA testing labs are inspected periodically by NYSDOH
- NYSDOH must collect and analyze DNA through validated DNA
testing equipment and techniques.
- Labs must follow all chain of custody procedures.
- NY DNA labs must engage in high-quality laboratory standards
and patient care.
Boston Paternity's reference laboratory is fully accredited by
NYSDOH to perform DNA testing services for New York residents.
