New App: Aspire News from Dr. Phil's Wife Robin

Posted on November 8, 2013

Dr. Phil Robin McGraw Aspire News App for Abused Women/Domestic ViolenceThe Dr. Phil show often features stories about infidelity and the confirmation or denial of infidelity via DNA testing. An episode today told the story of one man, Mike, who drove across the country, stalked Dr. Phil, and wouldn’t stop until he could get on the show to “confirm” his suspicions of his wife cheating. He brought with him multiple items to test via DNA. The process is actually much easier than this, if you are interested in Infidelity DNA testing, simply call 1-800-362-3588 to speak with a Case Manager for a free consultation. You just mail your suspicious items in, we test them, and walk you through the process. No need to drive across the country.

We see many cases of DNA testing for infidelity. This case on the Dr. Phil show, however, involved some level of obsessiveness, which can sometimes be evidence of an abusive relationship. At the end of the show, Dr. Phil’s wife, Robin McGraw, came on camera to discuss her foundation and her new smartphone app, Aspire News. Her foundation, When Georgia Smiled, developed this app in hopes of helping women in abusive relationships.

From the website:

“ASPIRE News is a free application which contains summaries of top stories in world, sports, and entertainment news, from the When Georgia Smiled: Robin McGraw Foundation (and powered by Yahoo!).

Additionally, if someone you know is in an abusive relationship—or if that someone is you—the Help Section of the application contains resources for victims of domestic violence.

This app does not serve as a replacement for emergency services—in any situation where you feel that you may be at risk, please dial 911 or your local emergency number.”

The Aspire App is designed to look like any other app in order to avoid any suspicion, and has a “Go” option, which will turn on location services, and record inconspicuously in case of a potentially dangerous situation.

Robin , I have been free for about three yrs now! It took my sons strangelation to be free if my abuser! He is coming up again for parole, he got a plea bargain 2 counts of harassment ! The system is a joke, but any how just wanted to say , thank you ! Thank you for understanding , and realizing how we are truly victims , and not certainly dumb stupid women who want to be treated this , or that way! I am no longer a victim , I am a survivor! He said when he gets out , he is going to kill my son and I and burn down the house ! So it is still very real for us ! We are in , intense trauma therapy , and I am also associated with laurel house, a safe haven for women! Wish there were more women like you! Thank you Robin for caring ! Sincerely , Jada

I work with professional women to Stand Up, Stand Tall, Stand Strong to stop cycles of abuse steeped in generational patterns of dysfunction. Even after leaving an abusive relationship, women often find themselves repeating the cycles of abuse. Without a strong sense of self, it is easy to find the abuse in the work place, in the community, and even in our families where we are supposed to feel safe. I love that Robin is getting the word out that abuse is more than “a black eye”….so much more to abuse than the physical.
