Quick and Painless DNA Collection
DNA Swab Collection Procedures
Your DNA testing appointment will take about 15 minutes for each
person being collected. We collect DNA using a buccal swab.
Collection is simple and painless. In order for the DNA collection
to be legally admissible, it must maintain a strict chain of
custody.
The Following Steps Ensure Court Admissible Results
1. Each participant must bring a government issued photo
identification.
2. A trained collector will complete a chain of custody form for
each participant.
3. We will complete a sample envelope for each participant.
4. Our collector will collect your DNA using a buccal swab. The
collection is completed using a scraping motion on the inside of
the cheek.
5. Photocopies of your identification are made. A photograph and
right thumb print are also completed. This is done for
identification purposes to ensure the results are court
admissible.
6. We will send the DNA samples to our laboratory, using
overnight shipping.
7. Your case manager will report results 4 working days after
your DNA collection appointment.
